Solving VPN Errors

This article is a continuation of our previous article about fixing common VPN issues. The issues encountered when dealing with a VPN can be simply fixed by some simple clicks. Let's dive right into the final part.

VPN Error 807

The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interruted.

This is a common disconnection error encountered by users that may be caused by the following:

  • Antivirus or firewall blockage
  • Server congestion
  • Slow or faulty internet connection
  • Overloaded System Cache

Possible Solutions

  • Disable antivirus or firewall that might be blocking the requests.
  • Check internet connection if working or not and restart your Wi-fi or LAN and plug it again.
  • Download a cleaner, run and clear your history, cache and entry.
  • Follow the correct protocoal which is Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP)
  • Replace “http: //” with “/” under the VPN IP address

VPN Error Code 628

The connection was terminated by the remote computer before it could be completed

Caused by user’s connectivity issues, this common error takes place when the remote computer fails to establish a connection successfully. But it may not only be limited to that. Possible causes could be the following:

  • Fault in Modem Driver
  • Loss of Network Signals
  • Antivirus or Firewall interference in network

Possible Solutions

  • Check internet connection if working or not and restart your Wi-fi or LAN and plug it again.
  • Make sure that you are using the correct logon credential
  • Disable antivirus or firewall that might be blocking the requests.
  • Check your router and firewall settings are set to allow for PPTP and/or VPN pass-through.

VPN Error Codes 789

This error is another one that has been experienced by many. If you ever encounter L2TP Error 789, this may be caused by an imperfect set up of your system to get connect to an L2TP server. This will in turn result to a failure on the connection attempt even before it reaches the server. It is linked with an incorrect configuration on the user’s OS.

Possible Solutions:

  • Disable antivirus or firewall that might be blocking the requests.
  • Ensure that your VPN certificate is installed on your computer
  • Reboot the VPN application
  • Restart the IPSec services or simply reboot your client device

For Windows 7 and Windows Vista users, you can follow the steps below.

  • Click on the Startup menu, located on the left bottom of your screen and type “services.msc” in the Search Box. When “Services” appear, right click on it and select “Run as Administrator”
  • Now find “IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules” and “IPsec Policy Agent”
  • Check the status, right click to “restart” if it states “started”
  • If the “started” option is disabled, enable it
  • Now right click and scroll down and click on Properties
  • Select the “Startup type” and change it to “Automatic” and save
  • Restart your VPN and check if it’s working.

This is a reminder for users to not panic when you encounter these common issues. But if the problem persists, reach out immediately to your VPN support.
